Research activities

My research focuses on the controlled-synthesis (morphology, size, porosity, composition …) and the comprehension of the synthesis influence on the electrochemical performance of positive electrodes for Li-ion / Na-ion batteries and hybrid supercapacitors.
Among other things, I am developing ionothermal approach (use of ionic liquids as solvent, template and reactant) for the synthesis of positive electrode materials (Na3V2(PO4)2F3, LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4, Co(OH)2, HxCoO2, Ni(OH)2, MnO2 …). This approach usually leads to “hybrid” materials where the ionic liquids functionalize the electrode material surface. This surface modification could be beneficial to enhance the electrochemical performance and I am currently trying to understand all the mechanisms around the surface modification and its influence on the surface composition, material’s stability upon long rate cycling, transport properties, capacity …..
